Santa Barbara// There’s something truly magical about photographing an elopement—just two people, deeply in love, promising forever in an intimate setting. Rachel and Katherine’s Santa Barbara elopement was exactly that: a heartfelt, deeply personal day filled with love, laughter, and stunning scenery.

I first met Rachel and Katherine in 2023 when I had the honor of photographing Rachel’s surprise proposal to Katherine in Malibu. It was just the three of us that day, and I had the privilege of not only capturing their love story but also witnessing such a monumental moment in their journey. When they reached out to me to document their elopement, I was beyond thrilled.

Rachel and Katherine chose to elope at the iconic Santa Barbara Courthouse, a breathtaking venue with Spanish-Colonial architecture, lush gardens, and an intimate courtyard that perfectly suited their vision. Their short and sweet ceremony was just the two of them, with me as both their photographer and witness—a role I cherish every time I’m given the opportunity.

After their “I dos,” we wandered through the courthouse grounds, taking portraits in the golden California light. The historic staircases, grand archways, and vibrant tilework created the most romantic backdrops. As a hybrid photographer, I documented their love in both digital and film photography, ensuring a timeless, artistic feel to their gallery. There’s something so special about film—the way it captures light and emotion adds an unparalleled depth to their love story.
