La Jolla Family Photos
I had the opportunity to spend a weekend in San Diego this past November capturing a bachelorette party and this family photo session. Being a photographer from the Los Angeles area; I absolutely love driving down to San Diego because it’s just nice to get out of your own city every once in a while. The vibes are so different and way more chill in certain areas. My goal as a young twenty year old was to move to San Diego and live by the beach, and learn to surf. Fast forward ten years, and let’s just say that goal was never accomplished. But, that hasn’t stopped me from visiting as often as I can (and maybe one day I’ll hope on a surfboard)!
This young military family reached out to have me take some updated family portraits for them with their four month old son. They had just moved to San Diego as the husband was stationed here for the Marine Corp. We met up at La Jolla Cove 30 minutes before the sunrise on a foggy Saturday morning. We wanted to have the beach to ourselves and have a nice intimate session before the tourists started to come around. While we waited to get a little bit of sunlight, we watched the sea lions play in the waves. The fog gave the perfect soft lighting for these photos and their baby boy was fascinated by the sea lions. We finished the session just as the sun started to peak through and before the tide got too high. It was such a beautiful morning and I can’t wait to travel to San Diego for more photo sessions.
